Welcome

For months, almost every project I've worked on has had delays or obstructions. The aftermath of the garage sale I write about in this month's article, my car, getting my mother's van fixed, etc. More than usual, I've had to let go of trying to get things done in my time, and let them happen in Divine Time. I've had to practice, over and over, stepping away from the problem to change the energy. When I do, things begin to flow.

"Relax Your Grip"

by
Linda-Ann Stewart

After completing a garage sale, I wanted to find homes for some furniture that hadn't sold. I approached resale shops in the area. Most didn't take furniture, and if they did, they didn't want any at this time. I tried donating them to various charities, but none of them wanted the furniture, either. I didn't want to have to spend several hundred dollars to have them hauled off to the dump, but that was looking likely. The more time and effort I spent on trying to find a solution, the more I was blocked. The frustration and stress built to a point that I had to let go of seeking an answer for awhile.

It's a good thing to be persistent, to keep knocking on door. This shows your subconscious that you really mean business, and that you want to make changes. However, when you start to shake the doorknob, or take an axe to the door, maybe it's time to let the issue rest for awhile. When you try to force the Universe to manifest the solution "NOW!", that means you're trying to control the outcome. And that, in itself, will create a block. The secret to solving a problem is to focus on the end result, not on how you think it should be done.

The harder you try to fix the problem, the more solid and stubborn it will become. There's an old saying, "You can't push the river." When you use your willpower to try to force your way through an issue, it's like all the energy is going into creating more of a block. The frustration, anxiety, and irritation just tells the subconscious that you want more of the challenge. When the conscious mind is fully engaged with your churned up emotions, the subconscious doesn't have the energy to find the solution. The inner mind senses the emotions focused on the issue instead of its solution, and delivers more challenges.

Sometimes, you just have to walk away from it. Let the energy dissipate, so the subconscious can use its creativity to actually work on a solution. Put your attention on something else. As a friend of mine says, "Change the energy. Go have some ice cream." Take a walk, play, work on another project. Take a break from trying to force the issue. Shift the energy from aggravation to enjoyment or accomplishment. When you do, the subconscious then has the energy available to find a solution.

A few hours after I let go of my problem with the furniture, I received a phone call from someone who was willing to take the furniture for a nominal fee. One of the places I'd contacted had given him my name. I was delighted that the pieces would continue to be of service, and that my problem was solved. Once again, I was shown that the best way to solve a problem was to relax my grip on it.

Affirmation

I know there is a solution to my problem. My subconscious mind is very creative, and knows what to do and how to do it to find an agreeable solution. I now let go of the issue, relaxing my grip on it, and do something enjoyable. By releasing the problem to my subconscious mind, I funnel positive energy into its creativity. Drawing its power and wisdom from the Universe, my creative mind now resolves the problem in Divine Order.

Question And Answer

Question: Is there a problem if I go to sleep while I'm hypnotized? In other words, if I go to sleep while I'm hypnotized, will I wake up?

Answer: Hypnosis is a natural state of awareness, and is simply a description of a process we use to communicate with the subconscious mind. When a person goes into a light stage of hypnosis, they're in the same state that they're in when they're daydreaming, focused on a project, praying or watching television. Everybody goes through this stage of awareness as they're going to sleep. The activity of the mind has started to slow down, and their subconscious mind is more amenable to suggestion. A person in hypnosis may descend into a deeper level where they're not aware of their outer circumstances, even though their subconscious is still responsive. This is a drowsy state, where sounds fade away. Below this state is deep sleep. If a person "falls asleep" when they're in a deep level of hypnosis, they'll just awaken naturally when their body has been rested.

For more information on on how to use this awareness to change, read my article, Improve Your Life As You Sleep in my June 2004 Newsletter.

We are always being guided by our Higher Self, but we don't always hear that message. We expect it to come in a certain way, and we miss what's being communicated. This article deals with some of the blocks to that insight, and how we need to prepare our mind to receive it. Read Seeking Spiritual Guidance From The Higher Self by Asoka Selvarajah, Ph.D.

"Pray Your Way Through It "
by Joseph Murpy

When I was growing up in the buckle of the Bible belt, I was hit over the head with Revelations and the Apocalypse so much that I developed a callus. I just couldn't believe that a visionary almost two thousand years ago would write about events several millennia in the future. Wouldn't he (a) be more concerned about events in his period and/or (b) be more concerned with spirituality?

In this book, Dr. Murphy explains that the book of Revelation is allegorical, symbolic and mystical. The writer of this biblical book was more interested in universal, internal truths than some future cataclysm. Dr. Murphy takes the key sections of the Apocalypse apart, and explains the inner meaning of each one. The original purpose of this biblical book was to reveal God to the reader. Using the metaphorical explanations of each symbol, Dr. Murphy shows us how our consciousness evolves.

Once I read this book, the book of Revelation made sense to me. The Apocalypse isn't a catastrophe to be feared, but a way to apply a higher awareness to our lives.
